Where to start

These guides follow the order of a real sourcing project. If you are new to paddles, start with the specification; if you already have a design, go straight to supplier evaluation and order planning.

  1. Decide what you are buying. The paddle specification guide covers dimensions, the USA Pickleball size rule, 14 mm vs 16 mm, weight, swing weight and balance, and lead tape. The core sourcing guide explains honeycomb, foam and hybrid cores and how to specify them.
  2. Understand how it is made. How pickleball paddles are made walks through face skins, core cutting, cold and hot pressing, edge and handle, print and inspection, with buyer questions at each stage.
  3. Choose a supplier. How to evaluate a paddle supplier gives you a common brief, an evidence list, a scorecard and red flags.
  4. Approve a sample. Sampling and specification approval sets out what to measure and sign off.
  5. Place the order. Bulk order planning covers the item schedule, MOQ, artwork, packing and barcodes, Incoterms, shipping and inspection.

Quick answers

  • Maximum paddle size: 17 in long, and 24 in for length plus width (USA Pickleball). Thickness and weight are not limited.
  • Most adult paddles weigh about 7.3–8.5 oz (205–240 g).
  • 16 mm paddles tend to feel softer and more controlled; 13–14 mm paddles quicker with more pop.
  • "Polymer core" usually means polypropylene honeycomb.
  • USA Pickleball approval is listed per paddle and brand; it does not transfer from a factory to your brand.
